Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Elliott Yamin from season five of American Idol was in Chile on Saturday going to play at a festival outside of Santiago when the 8.8 earthquake struck. He and everyone else he was with managed to walk away unscathed, but now Yamin faces another terror.
Yamin is a Type 1 diabetic, and he only has enough insulin to last him for a few more days. If he runs out, he could go into a diabetic coma. Obviously, the Idol finalist has been trying to leave Chile since Saturday, but airports are closed and he is getting no response from the U.S. Embassy.

“I don’t know how long we’re going to be here,” Yamin told Pop Tarts yesterday from Santiago. “This country isn’t very keen on insulin pumps; supplies for my pump are running low. Hospitals here are very crowded, and as you can imagine, they are dealing with bigger things.”
“I’m starting to worry,” he says, ” But, I’m trying to be positive, I’m alive and well.” (Fox News)
